Cracking the Code to Human Interactions. Part 1: Introduction

Humans are complex social beings. The incomprehensibility of our interactions with each other is simply a reflection of this complexity. Most of the wars around the world, be it physical, social or verbal, are results of the incredible difficulty in expressing ourselves and understanding others.

Having said that, it should be self evident to anyone living long enough on the planet that the human species, as a communicative entity, has a convoluted, and often confusing, way of interacting with each other.

This series of articles is an attempt to decode that complexity to some extent and categorize, on a bird’s eye level, the different types of interactions that humans experience throughout their life, if not on a daily basis.

Purpose of this attempt

As many of us would agree, understanding a problem is a big portion of finding the solution. Earth is at a mess. It is filled with different types of people from different backgrounds, thoughts and beliefs. In this huge cauldron of people the stew is not always tasteful. Quickly the political and social borders around the world are blurring out and people are homogenizing every hour. This has led to several clashes of civilizations and creeds. The end result is that the world today is torn with war, hate and corruption.

With passing days, our workplaces, our homes and our communities are becoming more and more diverse with incompatible, and often conflicting, creeds. The human managers of our societies are trying to reconcile this effect through means which are impossible to be rational or sound. Hence confusion and senselessness has spread throughout the world which has started to redefine self evident reality itself. This is resulting in fallacious understandings which, although temporarily solve the immediate issues, fail to be consistent or coherent and end up changing every other day. All of this has thrown the masses into an enormous confusion and cognitive struggle which has resulted in depressions, suicides and corruptions of pandemic proportions.

Considering all of that, it is time to take up pens against the fallacies which are challenging our very existence. But like every other problem, this too has humble beginnings. Understanding this will require making a deep dive into the source of the problem. A few articles might never be able to make a comprehensive attempt to understanding it, however as the saying goes, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. Hence this series of articles is focused on a core aspect of human communication, the understanding of which can be thought of as a prerequisite to understanding the current human condition.

So without further ado, lets dive into the different types of interactions which people experience.

Types of interactions

Human interactions can be broadly categorized as four:

  • Logical (or rational): all the interactions which are based on sound facts and methodologies.
  • Emotional (or irrational): all the interactions which are based on human emotions and cognition.
  • False: all the interactions which are based on unsound premises and methodologies. Related article: Lie detector…!
  • Violent: all the interactions which are based on uni-directional communication, where “the other” is not allowed to interact.
Types of interactions

In the next article, we will discuss an overview of this diagram.
